Wash and care

Children jump in puddles, roll down hills, make mud pies – in short: when children play, their clothes get dirty – and that’s how it should be!

Here are a few washing tips for washing and caring for Småfolk products - also to make them last longer. Always remember to check the washing instructions in the clothing, as there may be individual products that have different washing instructions than those described below.

Washing our cotton products

We recommend washing our cotton clothes inside out and at a maximum of 30 °C. By washing inside out, you protect the print on the fabric and ensure that it stays clean and the colors remain fresh. We recommend air-drying the product and not using a tumble dryer or drying cabinet, as this extends the life of the fabric and the print.

Our cotton products can be ironed at a low temperature.

Our cotton products are not bleach-resistant.

Washing our swimwear

The UV factor of our swimwear is knitted into the fabric, which maintains the UV factor swim after swim. We recommend washing our UPF50+ swimwear by hand and not in a machine, as machine washing can reduce the UV factor.

Rinse the swimwear immediately after swimming in clean, cold tap water. Avoid drying the swimwear in a tumble dryer, drying cabinet, or in direct sunlight.

Our swimwear must not be ironed or bleached.

Washing our wool items

Wool clothing needs to be washed less often because it is naturally antibacterial and reduces odor. We recommend washing your wool clothing as little as possible and instead utilizing wool's fantastic self-cleaning properties by simply airing out the clothes before putting them back in the closet.

If the garment needs washing, we recommend machine washing on a wool program at 30°C or hand washing in lukewarm water. For both, we recommend using wool detergent.

We advise against drying wool clothing in a tumble dryer or drying cabinet. Also avoid drying wool clothing in direct sunlight.

Our wool clothing cannot be bleached or ironed.

Washing Småfolk rainwear

We recommend washing rainwear at max. 40°C. By washing inside out, you protect the outside of the rainwear and extend its lifespan.

Our rainwear has taped seams, which help to make the clothing waterproof. Due to these taped seams, we advise against drying the clothing in tumble dryers, drying cabinets, and with irons, as this can damage the taped seams and reduce the product's waterproofness.

Our rainwear cannot tolerate bleaching.
